BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has been a pioneer in sustainable investment since 2002 and is reaffirming its commitment and its objective of delivering sustainable investment returns to clients over the long term, by transforming its flagship range into a 100% sustainable offering. This is a significant milestone in the implementation of BNPP AM’s Global Sustainability Strategy, in line with its ambition to become the reference point in sustainable investment.
A rigirous process for integrating ESG criteria into all funds
Each strategy within the BNP Paribas Funds range now applies BNPP AM’s ESG Integration Guidelines, which are reflected across the stages of each investment process1. The ESG integration approach is adapted for each fund according to the specific characteristics of its asset class, investment process and geographical area.
The implementation of ESG Integration Guidelines is overseen by an ESG Validation Committee responsible for approving each investment team’s proposed integration methodology. For example, multi-factor funds must have ESG scores that are 20% higher than their respective benchmark indices and target a carbon footprint 50% lower than that of their benchmark.
In addition to the ESG integration process, all funds comply with BNPP AM’s Responsible Business Conduct policy, reflecting the principles of the United Nations Global Compact and BNPP AM’s sectoral policies.
ESG funds to go even further
The BNP Paribas Funds range includes SRI Best in Class, Multi-factor, Thematic and Impact investing funds. These funds are more focused in their investment strategy to help address the ’3Es‘- the three priority themes defined by BNPP AM’s Global Sustainability Strategy of Energy transition, Environmental protection and Equality & inclusive growth.
With nearly EUR 10 billion2 of assets under management, BNPP AM is a world leader in sustainable thematic solutions, offering a broad range of environmental themes, such as the Aqua and Green Bonds strategies. BNPP AM aims to continue strengthening its offering and has recently launched an innovative Energy Transition strategy (‘BNP Paribas Energy Transition’) to address the challenges related to the energy transition.
