ING is a two-time winner at Global Finance’s inaugural 2021 Sustainable Finance Awards, taking the top spot in the categories for Outstanding Leadership in Sustainable Bonds and in Sustainable Loans in the highly competitive Western Europe region. This is the first year that Global Finance magazine, which is known for celebrating excellence in the financial industry, is recognising the industry’s efforts to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.
“ING has been one of the frontrunners in the sustainable finance market since its inception and these awards clearly show we are still going in the right direction to support our clients in their sustainability journey,” says ING’s Robert Spruijt, head of Sustainable Finance Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Between May 2020 and April 2021, ING structured and/or coordinated 130 sustainable loans, bonds, Schuldsheins and green-financing framework mandates. Among the stand-out transactions are FedEx’s debut €600 million sustainability bond, the first of its kind in the North American transportation and logistics sector; and the largest-ever sustainability-linked revolving credit facility for brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Hans Biemans, head of Sustainable Markets: “We are really proud to have won these awards and thank all issuers for the trust they have shown in our team members, our team work and our dedication”.
